A Fun Family Outing For The Young And Young At Heart
The Miami zoo offers a fun filled day of activities for the whole family.
Take a break from the sand and surf and head over to 1 Zoo Boulevard on
any day of the year to explore the habitats of some of the most amazing
animals on earth.
The Miami Zoo is home to over 2000 animals that
represent over 500 species, 40 of these species are on the endangered
animals list. You'll also encounter over 70 species of birds and around
15,000 Italian honey bees. In addition, you'll enjoy viewing over 1000
species of plants, palms, and trees, including hundreds of orchids.
The
young and young at heart in your family won't want to miss the
Children's Zoo. This section of the Miami Zoo allows you to get up close
with animals, take a camel ride, learn about reptiles and amphibians,
and ride a carousel. The Meerkat Exhibit is a big draw at feeding time
each day when crickets and grubs are released into their living area and
the Meerkats scamper after them.
Wings of Asia is another
exciting stop at the Miami Zoo. Here you can gaze upon over 300 exotic
Asian birds in a free flight aviary that covers 54,000 square feet.
Explore different habitats such as wetlands and tree canopies. You can
even take a trip back in time to the land of the dinosaurs.
The
Amazon and Beyond is a fairly new exhibit that covers 27 acres and is
home to 600 animals from Central and South America. Catch a glimpse of
giant river otters, jaguars, or an anaconda. See animals that live in
islands in the sky in the Cloud Forest, and learn about the Amazon
ecosystem in the Flooded Forest exhibit.
When you are ready for
some exercise, you can stroll along the three miles of walkways where
you can marvel at the diverse wildlife our planet has to offer. You'll
see creatures such as tigers, lions, foxes, bears, gazelles, elephants,
hippopotamus, rhinos, tapirs, orangutans, gorillas, chimpanzees,
kangaroos, ostriches, komodo dragons, crocodiles, pythons, tortoises,
and many animals you have probably never even heard of before.
Getting
around the Miami Zoo is easy even if you don't like to walk or are
unable to walk for long distances. You can rent wheelchairs, strollers,
or family safari cycles. You can also hop on a tram tour or the monorail
and enjoy the sites while you rest at the same time. You can even opt
for a golf cart tour with a seasoned guide.
The Miami Zoo covers
over 740 acres and offers enough fun, adventure, and learning to
enthrall your entire family. A trip to the zoo makes for the perfect
outing on your South Florida vacation. Food and beverages are available
inside the zoo so you can make a day of it. Park regulations prohibit
your bringing food into the park but plenty of picnic tables are
available outside the gates so you can combine a relaxing picnic with
your zoofari adventure.
There are lots of apartments in Miami you can book online, and they are near the main attractions of the city!
